When COVID-19 hit, the Office of Business Opportunity took steps to lessen the burden on businesses owned by people of color. “Even with all the closures around us, it was not an option to put our operations on hold. Based on survey feedback from small businesses impacted by COVID-19, we created new programs to help ease the financial burdens on our customers.
School choice is a hot topic in many communities across the country, but Millennials often are missing from the table. We know both from our original research and independent polls that Millennials strongly support school choice and education reform. After all, they’ve grown up with choice in every aspect of their lives. This panel will discuss school choice policies and their effect on reforming K-12 education and assess the need to amplify the Millennial voice in this movement.

Overview: Getting a school choice law passed is a huge victory and usually the result of a years-long effort. Often-overlooked, but just as important is making sure your new law is implemented well. This roundtable discussion will look at: working with state Departments of Education, identifying key legal strategies, and how to encourage and help parents exercise choice.
